Hello, I have recently got my first budgie after he was found in someones garden and am learning on the hoof. I am getting a ferpast planeta for him and am aware the doors are on the small side. This is better than the one large door for me but I can see it might not be as easy for Pip to get in and out. I need to find options for him to land on and step through to to make it easier for him. On the side he is most likely to use as access one door opens upwards and one downwards. I seem to remember seeing some cages with little platforms fixed by the doors but am not sure how these will work with drop down doors. If anyone has the same or similar cage and is able to share their solutions that would be great and I will be very grateful for any suggestions or ideas any one may have whether they are proven or not.

If you are not able to attach a landing platform to the doorway, you could screw a short perch to the outside of the cage beside the door as a place for him to land.

Thanks for the advice Hez, it actually seems like it won't be a problem anyway as the cage arrived damaged. After receiving the replacement, also damaged, I think I am going to choose something else. I went for the planeta as it was a good size and had a deep tray as well as the smaller door which I like. However, I have lost confidence in the quality of build so will be looking elsewhere. I see others speak highly of the Hamberley, if I can't find something with a deeper tray I guess I'll go for that.

The Hamberley is a great cage if you have the space. They last forever as well, if looked after.
