At last the boys are eating carrot, I cut the pieces into a fan and then cut them again to make smaller lengths and it seems to be working, they eat a little which is much better than none. I put two bits in today to stopp any arguments but Ollie has once again taken control and perched on one whilst nibbling the other. I have tried putting fresh food at opposite sides of the cage but they both go to one side and have a mini squabble then both go to the other side and do the same ! Guess the grass is always greener

I'm familiar with the "sharing" issue.
There's a "sweet spot" for placing two treats for two budgies, somewhere between side-by-side and opposite sides of the cage. The treats need to be far enough apart that one budgie cannot dominate both treats but close enough to each other that the non-dominant budgie feels like he is getting the same treat. Experimentation may determine the sweet spot.

I’ll try that Lozhinge, thank you. Do yours also have a snack when the food is fresh but then find it just as edible the floppier it gets ?! I I noticed it with Parsley before now as they chew the stalks eat some of the leaves, or maybe just drink the water on it, and then when it is floppy go back to it and snack away, the carrot it currently getting the same attention even though it is not fresh !

My guys have never even tried carrot the few times I've put it out for them. No matter how I prepared it.
There are some veggies they all seem to prefer after it's dried out for a day. Sweetcorn and sprouties (sprouting lentil, salad toppers) seem to taste better after they've been out for at least twenty-four hours. Some things are devoured fresh - spinach, babycorn, sugar snaps, for instance. Broccoli when it's in favour.

The boys gave the sugar snap peas the same treatment, enjoyed them when they were fresh but kept going back well into the evening. Mine won’t eat peas, I defrost frozen ones, so I am thinking of taking the outside off and slightly squidging the centre to see if that encourages them. Trying Pak Choi tomorrow, I did a post asking how much to give as I remember someone saying their birds liked to rub their heads in it to get the water on them but I’m guessing that for eating a couple of leaves will be fine.
