I remember London Zoo vaguely. 1967, I think it was ... I bet it's changed.

What a lovely outing for you both and Eve is getting so big! I recall reading a news report earlier this year about African Greys being donated to the zoo. The problem started with one who'd been taught to swear and it taught the others to swear. Then the zookeepers started laughing at the swear words so the African Greys started swearing and then laughing. At this point, it was decided to remove the swearing African Greys from public display because it wasn't family appropriate. That may be why you didn't see more African Greys. I assume any new parrots to the zoo collection will be kept away from the swearing Greys so the zoo won't have a collection of swearing parrots!

I remember reading about those parrots and saying at the time, "The London Zoo Five did nothing wrong! Justice for the LZ5!"

I took photos of this statue and then read the inscription, which was very touching. She was only Eve's age, which made me feel quite sad.

Pretty sure that wan’t London Zoo but further up the country so a quick search says it was Lincolnshire wildlife park. I remember spending a fair bit of time in the Tropical Birds section of the London Zoo thawing out on a cold January day. Only problem was that the high temp made the collection of multiple bird poops smell very guano-ish.
