Hi all, one of my budgies likes to sit in my hand inside the cage but doesn’t want to come out. he is totally comfortable with me and my hand, any tips?
ps anyone from Connecticut?

Does he like millet? I'd suggest you put a perch on the outside right beside the cage door. Each time you have him on your hand, move it closer to the door and just hold your hand there. If he likes millet, get him on your hand while giving him millet and then bring your and just outside of the cage door. You can then transfer him to the perch outside the door. This may take several attempts. Then start putting millet on the outside perch where he'll need to come out to get it. Good luck!

How long have you had this little one? You say “one of my budgies” so I presume you have others? Do they come and go in and out of the cage as they please?
You need to provide him with something special enough to come out for. Usually a play/perching station with some favourite toys to play with and/or things to browse on, somewhere that is the birds’ safe place in the room will do the trick. Initially this would be close to the cage so he doesn’t have to go too far to get to it but over time the further away from the cage the better as getting to and from one to the other gives them the exercise they need.
