…who panics about the silliest of things when it comes to the budgies ?! Well not silly but you get the gist, for instance I am pretty sure the boys are starting a moult, lots of the white ‘sticky’ feathers are coming out and they are not as active and more sleepy during the day, they are preening more than usual etc all the signs of a moult starting. They came out for the first time in over a week today, they had just looked at the open door before and then looked at me as if to say ‘you’ve got to be kidding’ , and were fine in that they had a short flutter then posed on the top of the cage, I had to get them back in myself..not roughly obv but just giving them my arm and putting them in that way. They are now chatting away but in a little while I know they will go quiet and snooze Me being me however starts to panic and think they are ill and I am doing something wrong etc and so forth They have fresh food, apart from defrosted sweetcorn it must be green apparently (I mean according to they boys ! ) and I have GA and ACV to use too, but my stupid brain keeps making me think I am doing something wrong. Please tell me I am not the only one who has these silly, but not silly, panics Forgot to say they get a shower to, Sam loves it but Ollie is skittish about it until he finds he can preen his wet feathers comfortably !

I think we all worry about our birbs and when a new or unwelcome sign appears, there are definitely moments of "fear the worst" anxiety (if not actual panic - I know I have done so and relatively recently, too!) Moulting is a quieter time for a budgie and they are less inclined to exuberance, certainly. If they are eating OK, their poos are OK and they aren't fluffed up, I'd be prepared for there being nothing too wrong with them. I'd always mention behavioural changes on the Forum though and wait for a range of advices (from more experienced owners than me) that offer insight.

We budgie owners are a funny lot aren't we ?! I like that I can come to a friendly non judgmental place like this forum to ask silly things and, yes, the advice is always good. Now where are the Valium….(joke !!)

The last budgie I had died at 2 years old and I swore blind I would never get another, 10 or so years on I have two boys who are 16 months old and I don’t worry at all…nope, nada, nothing to see here And thank you x

If I sit and look at any of mine for long enough I can convince myself there is something wrong with them.
It's stressful being a budgie parent!
