Hi alll! I have recently got a new aviary and I am wondering where would be a good spot to put the 2 nesting boxes. Here is a picture of the aviary: Sorry it's on the side! I don't want it to be too close to the ground because the birds don't go near the ground much, but I don't want it too high either. How would I get the boxes to stay on the mesh anyway? Would I have to put a branch under it to support the nesting box? Thanks Nicola

Can you not fasten them to end bk wall were its shelterd becos you Dnt want the rain to get on and wet The nest, if your were going to put on mesh use the hooks that you can get from most DIY stores, they work great

The nest box has to be as higher as possible. Better to attach on the outside of the metal. Cut a small hole which can always be patched later. The metal will be able hold the nest box.

it needs to be as high as posible... but at the same time you need to clean it out.......so have to be able to open it aswell..... id put them on the out side....... to the left as we see the pic......but would make another section...... to fit to the side of the cage....... other wise it would be open to the weather .....and when you open the boxes...... the mums could fly away .... i hope this helps....

Which side of the cage do you want me to post a picture of BB? Nicola If we consider this picture is from front, then from left and back.

hi there i have had a look and there are a couple of solution ,but firstly any nest box must be as high as possible in a flight, secondly how many hens are in there 1 nest box and 3 or 4 hens will not work there will be bloodshed,i would place the nest boxes to the right behind the green door remember you will have to check and be able to reach the nest box easily

Thanks everyone for replying Hi Gerwayne ( sorry if I spelt your name wrong We have 2 nesting boxes with 3 hens. 2 of the hens are related (mother and daughter) The mother recently lost her mate and hasn't paired up again yet. Another female doesn't produce any chicks but she lays eggs. And finally, the daughter doesn't have a male to pair up with. The only one that's a male we have left is her brother. And I think she is too young to breed. She isn't even 1 yet I was also hoping to have the nesting box inside the cage. Do you have another suggestion how how to hold it up inside the aviary? Thank everyone again! Nicola
