Could someone please tell me what colour/mutation my budgies are please? Millie is up first I have seen photos of budgies who have been described as dilute, which look like her and also I have seen budgies which have been described as spangles which look like her but I get confused Front pic: Her cheek spots are now white but they used to be blue when she was a baby if that makes any difference: And from the back, you can see she has lots of grey colour markings on her wings:

Hi daisyandtom I have no idea about Millie, but Ollie looks to be a yellow and green recessive pied. Are you going to keep her name as Ollie? Nicola

I believe Millie is a YF light green opaline...grey wing? Thats my guess anyway. The opaline part is definitely right

Millie is spangle which explains the wing markings.

Thank you everyone for replying!
Nicola - Thanks for identifying Ollie's mutation.. We've started calling her Olivia, with Ollie being short for that instead but still in the habit of calling her "him" at the moment!!!!
Rachael - what is an opaline? I have tried looking further into the meanings but I end up getting so confused!!!!!
Sydney and BB - I did think she looked like a spangle in that I have seen other photos of spangles which look like her...
So is Millie a spangle and opaline? Is that possible? Sorry, as I said, I get a tad confused!!
One other question is why haven't their cere's turned brown? Is it because they are not in breeding condition? I've had Millie for over a year so can't be her age... If you keep two females together does that mean they never come into breeding condition and therefore their cere's will never turn brown?
Thanks all! x

Thanks all! x Most normal budgies have the bars that go up the back of their necks. An opaline does not have these bars And yes Millie could be an opaline spangle, I have at least three I can think of that are opaline spangles As for them not coming into breeding condition it could just be one of those things. I've never had just females on their own. Its nothing to worry about anyway ;D

You're not wrong there Hezz!! When I first wanted to get a budgie, what I was after was one that would sit sweetly on my finger and be super tame and lovely... Instead, I ended up with Millie.. Bad tempered, feisty, fiery... not so much a case of sitting on my finger as trying to bite it off..!!!! However, I wouldn't have it any other way now!!! I absolutely love her to bits.. And she does have her sweet moments like trying to preen my fringe or eyebrows from time to time.. And if she flies and crash lands (which happens quite a lot) she will always jump up on my hand to be rescued without so much as a peck.. And if I go near the cage, she will always come on over and have a natter... Bless her haha..
