I have been looking into new toys for the aviary outdoor flight, and I have bought one or two, but I wanted really big chunky toys that they would enjoy and that didn't cost a fortune. I'd seen those triangle shaped swings online but when I saw one in a shop it was really tiny and very expensive. So I thought, why not make my own HUGE version?! I already had some huge silver birch branches a lovely lady on facebook gave me which I have been gradually making into perches so... I cut three pieces of branch as equal a length I could. Its best to use straight-ish pieces. Then (as I don't have a lot of strength in one of my wrists due to arthritis) my lovely brother nailed the three pieces together into a triangle shape. We then screwed in little hooks, one in each corner. I bought some chain from a diy shop, make sure that the metal is safe for your birds of course. I cut the chain into three lengths and hooked one end of each onto each hook. Then we used a pair of flat nosed pliars to squeeze each hook closed. Added a key ring hoop thing to hold all the chains together at the top and taa-daaa! I plan to hang it in the aviary using a pear link and I will also be threading fun chewable things through the chain links using string I will take more photos when I have added the fun shreddables and I hope they will be playing on it in no time.

OOOO Errrrrrr I'm loving that, well done, may have to have a go at that, i was looking on Saturday at the birdy bits in the garden centre, some of the bits are so expensive and so flimsy. Thanks for sharing your idea.

Some useful aviary perches can be made using hosepipe, wooden perches can be inserted inside the hosepipe or the hosepipe can be bent , twisted and hung loose to form various options of perch.................soft on their feet and very easy to clean.
