My cages are the all wire ones from Moncaster , they are all next to each other and stacked 2 high , when using them for breeding in is it best to have a wooden partition next to each cage then the pairs cant see each other or does it not matter .
What are everyones views please

Budgies need stimulation for breeding. Keep the cages next to each other without partition.

exellent , thanks , will leave without a partition , was just worried that bird seeing each other through the bars into the next cages might put them of their partners lol , when my dad had budgies years ago all the breeding cages were wooden so the birds couldnt see into the next cage but they bred really well .

well i left them without any partitions between the cages for 4 days and all the various pairs did was to try and get to the other birds in the next cages and paid no attention to the birds they are paired up together with so yesterday i decided to try partitions and hey presto , within a couple of hours the majority of the pairs were finaly showing interest in the cage mates and today a couple of the pairs are doing little dances for each other so for now i think ill stick with having partitions between the cages lol .

How long since you have these birds. Maybe they have been bred before in wooden cages and that's why they feel comfortable with partitions.

2 pairs i have had for a couple of years and the others ive only had about 3 weeks , been sat watching them on and off all day today lol once i get in the bird shed with them i cant stop watching them and they are deffinitely happier with the partitions between them and fussing their cage mates now which is a gid sign :-)
