We too are back after a few days away. My younger son and Mac stayed with OH's brother and family about an hour away from our home. Son did fine, and was great with Mac - Mac was his responsibility. BUT ........... Mac on the other hand managed to get into a little mischief. He busted out of his containment almost as soon as he was put in. , managing to scrape himself along the ribs; and chewed through another lead. Drew and his cousin were cutting flowers (tropical flowers grown commercially, heliconias and gingers mainly) and Mac was on the lead tied to the small tractor-trailer while the boys were cutting. I think what happened was Drew got out of his sight after a while, or maybe being Mac, he simply got bored! Anyway, one loping dog trotting through the rows of flowers until he spotted Drew and then made a bee-line. This time, the only damage was to the lead.

Oh bless him he wasn't gonna be left out. Ive just had Alfie for the weekend and he pined for the children, he heard some kids playing in the garden at the bottom of ours and tore down tail wagging to see if it was his children then came slowly back with his head down when he realised it wasn't. Hope you had a good break.

Is Alfie the loopy lab? It was ......... well ........ cool for us here in the tropics (I'll do rolley eyes for you all ;D) yesterday and Mac was looking very miserable outside. Little mister soft-touch Drew threw a towel that Mac has been lying on at the back door over him. I did wonder where the towel had got to ........... found it this morning in his kennel. He had taken it off to bed with him, lol. ;D

That's the one i love having him but im always very glad when they come and pick him up ;D. He thinks OH and i are very boring anyway. I was trying to do a bit of gardening and he decided to start his usual attention seeking tactics by nicking off with my gardening gloves etc so i took him in and he sat in the conservatory looking out at me with that your no fun look on his face ;D Tilly just lays in her bed rolling her eyes and scowling at me as much to say when is he going home.

I can imagine Tilly not being impressed. My old dog would come along and lie down right in front - just where I was working. Mac hasn't yet discovered the joys of getting in the way type gardening.

i love having the dogs pottering around me when im gardening, they do seem to have a knack for placing themselves in just the right spot to make it as awkward as possible though lol Snoop in particular always plonks himself down right at the back of my heels...i have to be so careful not to forget he's there and step back

I am pleased to report no new antics ............ so far. We all forgot to put him on his chain one night over the weekend, and without his electronic collar on either, but he only went as far as two houses down. Whew! He could have been anywhere, so maybe we are feeling like his family to him.

oh yeah we were strongly thinking of trying one of those when Snoop was younger, he suffers terribly every halloween with the fireworks, its supposed to be very effective with that type of thing, i always thought it quite fascinating how something like that works.....it is"DAP" that "dog appeasement pheromone" thingy you'r talking about right? otherwise im talking about the wrong thing completely lol Hi Honeybunny. It is lovely when all they want to do is be around you, isn't it? it sure is Hezz, i just love that about them...there want for nothing more than to be close to you, whatever you happen to be doing, such lovely little beasties

Update on the Mac-dog. Yesterday afternoon a couple of little stray dogs found their way to our street, so Mac being a good friendly fellow thought he would show them down to the park! He obviously got zapped going out through the electronic fence, but the thrill of two playmates must have been too alluring. He was missing for about half an hour max, and where was he? Down in the park about 5 blocks away, playing about with all the other dogs, who were there legitimately, with their owners! The two little strays didn't go that far, but Mac sure did! Just wonder what he would have done come dark when all the other dogs were taken home for their dinner, and it was just him. Probably gone home with the last dog out!

Pete, OH, said he was racing around with another little spanielly-looking dog, with it's owner sitting back going "this is good, I don't have to do anything!". When Pete called him, Mac was like "oh good, you've come to join us! Look, new friends!!!" Sam, he isn't grounded - I don't think that would work in our favour - but the charge on the fence has been turned up a notch! He gets an hour's walk in the morning and a romp in the park most afternoons, but not every. This day he wasn't going to get one, too many commitments, so took himself! I am still shaking my head about that one.
