Hey all...well we've had our new budgie for a few days now and she seems to be a happy lil' baby hen. My son named her Moscow. Looks like Momo or Coco will be the nick. She's getting used to her surroundings fast, from which I read, are easy when they are babies. Still won't touch her greens, but I expect that to change since her curiousity is picking up on them. No bath either, which I really want her to try on her own, so I'm not rushing it. Question I have is: Do any of you go out of your way to give them drinking water with filtered/bottled water? So far I have been giving tap, but am concerned if it is healthy for her? And her baths? Just curious if anyone here uses drinking water for them to drink and tap for baths? Thank You, -Lani

Hi, as i said in your other thread she is a cracker, and in answer to your question about the water, i have always given my budgies tap water to drink and to bath in, its fine, and i change mine every day. Persevere with her greens she will cotton on. Some budgies are not interested in bathing, my girls love it but the boys aren't bothered one way or another, they occasionally dip their toes in but the girls get right in and have a good old splash around, i love watching them but stand back ;D

Moscow is gorgeous. As for the water question, I get my water out of the kettle for the birds, so boiled is what they get. If I had a filter I would probably use that water instead, as I am not fussed on all the c**p added to city water supplies. But be aware too that the watering holes the wild budgies drink from can have anything from dead animals to faeces in it, and stagnant with it. California is a very much removed from an aussie watering hole, I know. But for bathing, I get it straight out of the tap, which is a bit contradictory I realise. A lot would depend on your water supply - some places have horrible water, even I can't drink it, so I wouldn'be be giving it to my birds as is. I'd be filtering it.

Lovely little bird, love the expression/stance I'd go for tap water, what seems to be more important is to change it regularly and thoroughly clean the container every now and then.

Hi what a beautiful little budgie! I have 33 budgies and I just use normal tap water, during the summer months I boil it and fill up a 4L jug and put it in the fridge and just use it everyday. As it gets hot during summer months, the water is really fresh and cool and they all love it. (For bathing and drinking ) Just wash the containers everyday and change the drinking water a few times during the day as food and droppings sometimes get in there.

I'm in Sydney, Australia, and I just use normal tap water. I guess it depends on where you live, and how good your city/town water supply is.
