HI I am new here and new to owning a budgie who is a 13wk old blue opaline...or so I am told. I was wondering would it be wrong to put a bowl with seeds in it on the bottom of the cage? I am only asking because of the mess. I expected mess but not to be using the vacum 3 times a day. Is there some sort of food container that is better than others? cheers granny

You can look for something like this.

Some people use a piece of elasticized fabric as a seed catcher around the bottom of the cage.
As mentioned, make sure that wherever you put the seed bowl, it's not under a perch or where they hang out where they can drop poop in it. (especially important for their water)

When I got pickle from the breeder, his seed pots were on the floor and I have always done the same, I use a heavy small glass dish but do make sure it's not in the firing line

I've given up - husks every where, they even get inside my socks. Even when you hoover every day. Don't suppose it helps when budgies get free reign in our conservatory and then when they fly - flutter off the seed and husks go lol ::0

I find millet the messiest, I only give it pickle as a treat when he is out of his cage and when he's eaten his piece for the day I get the duster buster out and job done, my duster buster sits on the shelf under the bird cage it's used that much

Millet is a shocker! I feel like putting a sign up "when finished eating, walk slowly away. Do not fly, repeat, DO NOT FLY!!!! until millet has been removed."
