Having just got back to normal with Tilly after having to lead walk her for weeks because of a Tendon injury she's just cut one of her pads open while on a walk . Back to vets anti b's and anti inflams, AND no walks for the next few day's or at a push lead walk's on grass. Vet said they can take up to ten days to start to heal Its gonna be down to OH this time though co's im going away for ten days on Sunday, he's in charge but i know im gonna worry, hay ho.

Oh, dear, poor Tilly! That dog is going to send you to your grave with more grey hair than you deserve! You know this is just going to be the excuse OH needs to not walk her at all! Hope the cut isn't too deep and heals nicely. Back or front paw? I grew up with working kelpies who would rub their pads raw from running flat out over stoney ground. Poor mutts, seeing them trying not to put too much weight on either (mostly front) paw when they had a chance to stop.

I think its gonna be a long job i took her to the park in the car this morning because she wasn't limping too bad, so that she could have a limp and a sniff, i didn't let her off just annoyed her by keeping the extension lead on . I wish i hadn't its opened it up even more. Its one of the front toe pad's, it's split right in half, not nice. I'm gonna have to be strong and keep her in over the weekend. OH can deal with the decision's and fall out from those decisions next week ;D hopefully it will have healed up a bit by the time i return .

I agree with Mick, otherwise a whopping great bandage-pad to keep the pad off the ground and clean and dry. A toe pad though is harder to do that for than the main paw pad. How on earth did she manage to do this?? Was it a hidden piece of glass or something?

Well she is grounded and sulking but its the only way. Vet said not to cover it because of locking in infection but i do put a plastic bag on when she goes in the garden and im soaking it twice a day in salt water. He said they may have to trim it and stitch if it doesn't close . Im not sure how she did it but i noticed broken glass on the path on route back from the walk, however i noticed her limping and bleeding in the field so it could have been one of those metal can rings hidden in the grass, i did look around when i noticed it but couldn't see anything. At least the anti b's will keep infection away. It would happen just as i was going away typical. Anyway R and R for her and OH and i catch up with you all soon. I going on a cruise with my youngest daughter and my mum, ive never done it before so im excited and terrified at the same time ;D catch up with you all in 10 days or so.

Glad Tilly's paw has healed up nicely. And the cruise was great - what a holiday to have - three generations of the girls together.

It was great Hezz, i was a bit worried about taking my mum as she is 83 next month but she thoroughly enjoyed herself, we stuck to short excursions on the air conditioned coach but she was quite happy to do a little walk round in Vigo, Cadiz and Casablanca and back on the coach again. It was the perfect holiday for her really and i knew that there was a Doc on board ship should we need it. We were like three giggly school girls , one to remember for sure.
