There are a few different looking swallows - ours have a plain white breast and a bit more rusty-red around their head. They fly through on the front of a storm/rain front. I love swallows, they are so swift and agile; gorgeous to watch.
Hope all goes well with the other two then, Gaile. Had a cat knocked their nest down?

How sad one died. Yeah I would like to know how the cat got them, what will you do after? Hand them over to wildlife rehab centre? Good luck.

I think that a magpie has raided the nest and pulled it down!!! so it was on the groung and thats how the cat got hold of one of the chicks!! I'm going to feed them, there is no one to help!!

Nature of the jungle, hey? Unfortunately for one chick, that is the way, but fortunately for the other chicks, they ran into a lady called Gaile and are on a one way ticket to freedom!

me too, i love watching them soaring about in the sky in the evenings, they're so damn fast and pass so close to one another, i always wonder how they don't collide with each other...or buildings for that matter as when they dip really low into the garden its always at lightning speed really close to walls and stuff, such super little birds

Here they are often out in numbers when there is rain around (that may be all the time in Ireland, lol), I know what you mean by swooping and soaring.
