Budgerigar lost in the Linnet Lane/South Albert Road area of Aigburth, Liverpool on the 24th of July.
He is grey-blue with a white face and standard black wing/tail markings.
He is finger trained, and MAY come to you if you have seed or possibly a banana. But he is still skittish and not to mention probably terrified and confused.
Please check your gardens/trees/bird feeders (any outdoor breeders in the area, please check your aviaries).
If seen, or caught, please contact Gurdeep (my boyfriend) on 07903556817 as soon as possible.
Spread the word!
Thanks
Jess

So do I It's been nearly 5 days and I'm beginning to lose hope - he's on parrotalert and gumtree, I've contacted vets, a breeder, and the RSPCA (who were the most unhelpful people ever might I add)...I've made posters and little flyers to go through people's doors.... But we live next to two big parks and there are a lot of cats in the area If the worst comes to the worst, at least I know that I tried.

I hope you find your birdie. It's such an awful thing to lose them to who knows where or what.
And as far as the RSPCA goes, I don't know what happened to that organisation. From a group that I was brought up to respect when I was a child, they are now the most un-animal friendly outfit ever. They ought to disband and start again.

The lady in question was quite abrupt with me, and even though I was acknowledging that I knew that they didn't keep small birds at the Liverpool branch, she was interrupting me as though I was somehow implying that they do.
Yet, when I asked what would happen if someone handed a bird in, she said they'd probably keep it (What, in the facilities you just told me you don't have!?). So I asked if she would take my details in case he was handed in - I was told that no, I had to keep calling them.
I fail to see how that is in any way helpful - if a dog or a cat came in microchipped the owner would be contacted, so I don't understand why you wouldn't call someone if a bird comes in matching the description the owner has given.
What this whole thing said was "we, the RSPCA, would rather keep a lost animal in inadequate facilities for an indeterminate amount of time, in case its owner decides to get back in contact with us rather than make one phone call to reunite them"
Well done, RSPCA. Well done. Take someone else's money, because you're not getting any of mine.

Hey guys, just wondering whether it's worth continuing the search, and if so, if anybody has got any suggestions. It's been over a week and we've not heard anything - does anybody think it is worth putting up a few more posters and refreshing people or is it time to move on (sob!)?
Thanks
Jess

Oh god. I'm at the same point you are.
I had 32 pet budgies and kept them inside..but when the weather was nice I would take them out in the aviary. Well NORMALLY I kept bringing them inside at night and take them out in the morning. For 2 days I left them day and night as it was really hot during the night and I figured they would love being outside and all. Morning of the 3rd day, I discovered 3 were missing. 1-Hercules 6 month old female) had just escaped the aviary and was attacked by the neighbour's cat. I was literally 1 second too late.
The other 2 escaped- I put up posters, newspaper ads, online ads, informed the SPCA, I drove around calling out. People don't realize it is emotionally draining, exhausting, depleting. All I did was wake up, eat, tend the birds, search for Coco and Linda, sleep, start over again. After 1 week, I had barely slept, I had continuous headaches and just plain felt sad and angry. The 2nd week, I reposted ads, but my heart was just in so much pain, I felt numb going through the actions.
I have pretty much stopped actively looking. But I taped a "lost poster" on the back of my vehicle and I still haven't removed it. I check the online ads, lost and found ads..but my heart tells me it's time to move on. While I don't scour the neighbourhood anymore, I can't bring myself to remove any ads or posters as I feel like the act would be difinitive of me giving up on my babies. So I keep them, in faltering hope that SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE has seen or has my babies.
The problem is I still haven't been able to find out where or how they escaped. The birds have not enjoyed any time outside as I am terrified of the thought of leaving them there-even for a few minutes unsupervised. And my babies mourned the absence of my 3 hens. They haven't exactly been the same since.
I will never forget July 12th. My resident elderly hen passed away suddenly 4 days before too, this incident just finished me off.
I truly wish you luck.

That's terrible. Yes, that's where I am now - I don't WANT to give up, but is it really worth carrying on when there has literally been no sign at all? We do live next to two parks, one is very big. I think I'm going to have a last ditch attempt at putting some posters up around the park area, as if he flew in a straight line of the direction I last saw him headed towards (we live in a second floor flat and he turned a corner before he went, so I had no way of following him effectively), that's most likely where he will have ended up. I console myself with the fantasy (who knows, maybe reality) that some lovely family found him and took him in, and that he's not still out in the wild in the rain or anything.
