They get a break every few days. Some days they just have their seed, grit and a few basil leaves.

I must admit, I wouldn't have thought you would give them veggies every day! But good advice Marianne thank you

Last nights dinner for the fiends: Broccoli (grated and florets), Carrot (Grated and sliced), Thyme and Avian Seaweed. Absolutely exceptional gourmet presentation, as always. Your budgies also get to eat with their eyes. I hope they appreciate your efforts...and I am sure that they do.

Elf loves Broccoli his fav which is sweet corn his new fav pak choi dandylion leaves now and again once i have grown them.... Wow hezz, marianne where do you get millet seeds from? off the millit yoiu normally buy? and how do you look after then, would LOVE to grow this x You can grow the normal seed you are feeding Elfie, as well as growing the seed out of the millet sprays. They are different millet varieties, but they will both grow. Start them off in a small amount of good moist potting soil in a shallow plastic container (with holes in it for drainage) or similar, in a warm sunny spot. Just sow the seed on the top, then sprinkle a bit of fresh potting soil over the top (about 1cm or less, just enough to cover them a bit). As they begin to sprout up a bit, you can divide them up in chunks and replant them in a bigger pot. It's pretty much always warm and sunny here, so you might need to create more warmth for them somehow where you are. One of your fellow budgie garden enthusiasts may be able to help more with that. Some people do things like putting cling wrap with holes in it over the sown seed to generate more warmth and humidity.
