We feed our budgies a mix of grit and oyster shell...is this ok or do we need to give just oyster shell?
Thanks x

I just give oyster shell grit as it is soluble. Normal pet shop grit isn't so I would say just feed them the oyster shell

Thanks

Hi h20 - Barrie says definitely do not give budgies normal grit!!! Oyster shell won't dissolve in water, you just give it to the budgies in a little dish for them to help themselves. I am sure Barrie will explain the whys and wherefores when he reads this.

H20, you don't put it in water. The description "soluble grit' means it breaks down in the bird's gut (unlike stones). Not that YOU have dissolve it first. Thinking about it, that's an easy mistake to make. PS. It just struck me that your screen name actually means 'water'. ;D
