Hi everybody. I have been busy over the last few weeks sorting out my cage, and buying accessories ready for my baby budgie. I Have been buying perches, few toys and just wondering on peoples advice. My cage is so big that it looks very bare still, but i understand they need room to spread their wings and fly. There are a few more things i need to buy, like grit (which i wasnt to sure about getting cos there so much debate) cuttlebone, iodine block and food etc. Im going to be using a plastic water bottle which are used for rodents as it wil keep the water clean. Any advice would be great. Thanks Gemma P.S you probably cant see in the pic but there is a ladder at the very bottom of the cage and a Budgue playground on top for the cage Attachments:

It looks really good Gemma A couple of things though, as Mick said put newspaper on the bottom of the cage, you need oystershell grit, thats the best kind for budgies. Also when you get your budgie (are you getting one from a breeder?) make sure you see what types of containers he or she has for their seed and water because they might not know how to drink out of a rodent type bottle straight away

I know what cage you mean, i think i can make my cage so its just one level and i might think about doing that while the budgie is small, cos thats big in itself. Im only getting the one, as im not in work at the moment, been job searching for over a year now, but daughter is starting preschool on thursday so i have two full days and a half day to find work, but its just finding a job that can do the hours. Any case what im saying is if i do manage to find a part time job, i will probably get another budgie to keep it company x

That massive for one !!! Bigger the better and all I have the one Winnie but after much reading and watching her they defo do better as a group or pairs so now any other bird has to go in a dif cage for quatenteen and it's a right faf wish I got two in the first place lol but that cage would do 4 birds as its double of mine lol

You have researched well Gemma! Great sized cage too. Have you got a cover for the cage for night time? Always good to have one for conditioning your bird to say it is bed time now
