I have a large shrouded feeding pot with 2 sections that hold grit on one side and seed on the other, the budgies were kicking it all out onto the cage base everyday so I thought I will adapt it. So from 2 sections i made it into 4 Thinking that'll stop the female sitting in there and causing havoc. How wrong was I, she just jumped straight into the smaller sections and padled it all out again, so I thought to stop her sitting in it I will put a bar across the length of the food sections Wrong again she put 1 leg on either side of the bar and kicked it all out and then to add insult crapped in the empty sections. So I thought I will cap off the 2 blank sections and it'll be too uncomfortable to stay in there, I also reduced the height of the shroud. OMG Guess what happened: The witch just laid on the food stopping the male from feeding, crapped and went to sleep. I have now ordered a gravity feeder

Ha ha, thanks for that, really made me laugh.
They are so determined aren't they, especially hens!
You would not believe the adaptations to my living room since we got Abbie, just one budgie but soooo much trouble!!

I have one of these birds too! He's such a little jerk. Have you tried getting an extra food holder and leaving that one empty? That's what I've done. He still digs some times, but mostly sits in the empty bowl.

I must admit they have made me chuckle, I have had one final attempt, they are freeflying currently so will wait till they are back in cage to see results. This time i have removed the 2 central pots and lowered the shroud another 5mm.

revenge....mwa ha ha ha.... That's great Bill ;D But my Lovies somehow manage to empty this bottle within 24 hours, scattered all over cage floor ;D So I have reverted back to open pots and it works fine now, no wastage at all
