Been looking through some budgie sites and have read that budgies can be fed and love...wait for it...whole wheat pasta, wild rice, couscous, and weetabix. Just wondered if anyone here has fed their budgies on any of the above foods and if they liked it and if it's safe for them...also how often. Thanks x

Hi Budgies eat grains.. Anything made from grains is OK as long as it doesn't contain anything they shouldn't have...B.J.

I have seen these goodies mentioned before, but as they are not things I generally have in the cupboard, I have never tried them. While we eat plenty of rice and pasta, my family turns their collective noses up at the wholegrain varieties.

Hi h20 Not sure about the pasta and rice but I have heard that you shouldn't feed budgies Weet-Bix. When one of my budgies, Cookie, (RIP Cookie) had scaly face someone who works in a pet shop said the mash up some Weet-Bix for him because it is easy to eat, but we got a second opinion from a man at another pet shop and he said no to Weet-Bix because of the preservatives etc in them. So I would say no to Weet-Bix. Nicola

I tried both pasta and couscous, the birds were not interested in it. No matter what I mixed it with.
But Dumpling would have a nibble at the en of a piece of pasta if handfed.
But then he thinks he is human.
Not something he gets often..
