Both look like fine cages, but whether Lilly would chew the timber, I don't know. My concern with that one would be cleanliness - everyday, and if you had the bad luck to have mites visit you. At least with the metal cage you can clean it all down and know that there are no gremlims lurking in grooves or crevices.

I like the metal one. It will be hard to keep the other one clean.

Was going to say same thing, prefer metal cage to wooden for hygiene reasons plus mites love wood 1st option for me too

If you can afford £200 then I'd get the ferplast piano 7, it's quite big and sturdy and in my opinion a great cage.

I wouldn't get the wood, even if they never get mites cleaning it generally will be a tough job. If they chewed it and ate a lot of the wood it could cause disaster too. The first one is better, but like Marianne says, ferplast are brilliant for cages if you can afford one...

Thanks everyone, well I never thought about cleaning it so that is out. Not too sure about the qaulity of the metal one as it seems to be only held together with clips? Is the piano 7 a bigger version of the 6? I cannot find any photos of one in use, they don't seem very popular but I like the look and size of it Thanks again!

Outnumbered, that hamster cage wouldn't be a problem I feel, but does it have a grate and tray? From the dimensions given on that site it is bigger than a lot of cages sold for birds. The height would be fine too. The only problem I see is cleaning (again) and access to the bird. Budgies understandably don't like going through small openings, coming or going. The dimensions and style of the cage are okay - just don't tell the birds it is a hamster cage. There may be other factors about it being a hamster cage that would work against you, but I have not had a hamster or a cage for one, so I don't know.

My first budgie lived in my hamster's cage (minus the hamster, that is). The base didn't go up as high as that one seems to, but the bases normally detach so you can take them off whilst the bird is on a perch, much like I can do with Munchy's cage. We had three doors, although the one in the top was never used. My cheeky birdie squeezed his way out of the side door when I had my arm through it. Not sure what the doors are like on that cage but he had no problem with the front door of ours, so it should be fine

Got it down from loft today and now I know why it stayed up there, it is huge as in too wide for me to lift alone and with no tray it is just not practical and the door on top has a big gap. so back to drawing board. The cage I have now is L28xW17xH31 My husband is happy to let me buy another one but only if it is a good deal larger and not just because I want a nicer one ;D I tend to agree with him as this is the 4th cage I wil be getting in 18months. I wish I had went bigger in the first place. My biggest obstacle is I prefer white or cream and hate dark colours. Not an easy mission Thanks everyone you all gave me a lot to think about and please if you see anything let me know

Nice cage! It is smaller than what I have now but I like the other ones so something to consider. Thanks for the link

This is why I liked this cage because it was cream and fitted well in with my colour scheme . this is when I first got it before putting in the wood perches and toys.
