i see them down a cycle track i use..... i just dont no what they are .. i thought it was from a conker tree at first... but its not??.. they seem to have some kind of nuts in them ...

definatly the horse chestnut ---- baby conkers. they grow in those little furry/spikey covers and when big enough the covers fall off leaving the conker. sometimes they get blown off the tree with the covers still on, if you open it up you will find a little conker. ;D

Definitley horsechestnut cases.i used to collect them with the nut inside when i worked down drayton manor and sit there opening them up and then shelling the nut so i could eat them. There must be a tree close by mick thats dropping them or its the squirels doing it. Sue

sorry but I think they are Beech nuts....... as conkers spikes are not as long and the shell is green !!!

sorry but I think they are Beech nuts....... as conkers spikes are not as long and the shell is green !!! thank you every one for your replys but i did say its not a conker lol.... . i just found this on google .... so they are edible sweet chestnuts ... and not horse chestnuts (ie the conker).. . nor are they beach nuts eather but i have to say... the beach nut shell does look alot like it tree-species.blogspot.co.uk/2009/03/edible-chestnuts-vs-horse-chestnuts.html

Well I've learnt something today Mick.
