As ive posted before, im a sucker for a pretty bird cage and over the years have collected MANY most women shop for shoes and bags etc with me its cages . I have been very good and sold some and some of the older ones have gone to the tip . I have just three now, a small hospital cage my large practical cage which i bring the buds into if im revamping the aviary and this one which i have just got down from the loft. Im finding it hard to part with it but have always questioned the practical use of it and ive only ever kept 2 buds at a time in there. Is it worth keeping ? It is 24ins High 19ins wide and 12ins deep and the front and the back are perspex the sides and top are wire, it does keep the mess to a minimum . Also has a zip cover.

I think it would make a super hospital/recovery cage. The perspex front and back would keep heat in really well, as would the zip-up cover. Hopefully you will not have the need to use it as such for a long time to come (touch wood). Even though you have a hospital cage, this could still be very useful .......... and if you are anything like me and have s*&%#y timing, as soon as you throw it away, it will be just the very thing you need. If you have a bird or two that needs isolating for a time ........ my thoughts are "keep it"!

I totally agree with Hezz that it is a super hospital, recovery and a short time quarantine cage

It would also make a lovely breeding cage, Skysmum ......... ;D If you have some way to attach a nest box, of course.

Oooooooo errrrrr, good point Hezz. Im still keeping an eye out for a new girl for Teddy but Budgies are like gold dust round here, ive only got the pet shop about 10miles away that sell them and am a bit reluctant to purchase from there, although my Sky was a pet shop bird and she lived to almost 13 . The guy i knew that used to breed buds gave it up about 4 years ago. The search continues but if it goes on too long i may have to buy a pair because Teddy isn't getting any younger.

;D Works both ways, Skysmum! You were wishing baby budgies on me ...... hee, hee ....... I wonder why they are so scarce??? You could go into breeding and selling - there is obviously a gap in your area. ;D

After you Hezz, after you, i insist ;D. I thought this last time i bred but when the time came i just couldn't part with them . Was talking to a very nice lady in a NICE pet shop up the road from me, they don't sell pet's, and she was saying that she breeds Canaries and that Budgies were in very short supply. Apparently when we had the bird flu outbreak everyone gave up and got rid of their stock. She even had a guy ask her to take all his birds and if she didn't he would let them go out into the wild , madness. She said the same as you if i were to start breeding again i would have no trouble selling them, just don't think i could i would worry about how they were going to be looked after . Love doing it just for myself though they are my baby's

I think I would be the same. No, I know I would be the same - they are such fragile little creatures in some ways. Smoochs all round.
