My friend has Bobby's brother its only the one budgie she has and when she give him some broccoli he had a bit of runny poo so I give her some gaurdian angel and it cleared up ,...she give him a bit of carrot this week and he had a bit of wattery poo again ,....so she said she's not going to give him any fresh foods anymore and just keep him on seed and millet, anyone know why this is happening with him.? Àll my budgies are eating spinich, strawberries, apple, pear, curly cale ,grape, beetroot grated butternut squash and carrot and are not having any problems with it and are fine. She thinks fresg foods are not a Agreeing with him

When you change their diet it sometimes can give them watery droppings. It clears up though, for the most part.

Hi You could explain also that her bird is not going to get a healthy diet . On a seed only diet a bird is not getting all it's required Vit, & Min, Which will probably lead to early death due to these deficiencies.....B.J.

If you're going to do that ^ I'd suggest putting it in a slightly less harsh sounding way?
Do you think you could maybe persuade her to try him on fresh foods everyday for a week and see what happens? Perhaps if he's been on a seed only diet then he's been drinking more water to compensate for the dryness of the food, and then the extra water from the vegetables is making his poo runny. He might compensate by drinking less water once he realises that he's getting water from the fresh foods if he's given them regularly.

Budgies do need the vits a minerals and the best way is always from fresh veg. It might be best to start him on one thing first only one day out of the week so his tummy gets used to it. Carrot or corn on the cob (uncooked) is always a good start. They should then gradually increase to have veg to 2 or 3 times a week. A bird will eat approximately the size of its head in a day and only leave fresh foods out for them for a couple of hours as you dont want it to go off. Hope that helps, best of luck and let us know how you get on

Btw, the best tip our breeder gave to us was to add Apple Cider Vinegar available at Sainsburys to the budgies water at half a capful per 1ltr dilution This helps with the crop acidity and no matter how the diet has changed we have not had any loose droppings or tummy troubles so far

Some budgies can have runny droppings after eating vegetables. They get used to the vegetable diet after a little while. If the budgie is OK, no need to worry about the watery droppings.

Totally agree with BB's post. The poor thing will never have a settled digestive system if she never allows him to have his greens.

Never had the need to go there, but is it something you do every day?

Yes I do Hezz In my breeders words "it was the best tip that anyone gave me to help with the acidity in their diet" and it must be pure ACV no additives. We have had no problems *touch wood* so far and it is such a small amount it lasts a long time and is cheap to get too

Must have a look next shopping day. I haven't found the "real" stuff in Sydney anywhere I've looked. I'd say health food stores would be the place to get it here.

Wish I could help you there, but the places here would be in supermarkets as well as health food places I expect? Hope you find some

Think you are right, Sam. That is where I would start.
