do budgies have to be a certain age before you can try them on fruit and veg?

What you will find juju , birds reared on fruit and veggies will eat it no bother , birds not reared may just look at it with disgust.
Try a little but do remove any waste daily. Also remember a birds tummy is not as big as the birds head, so small portions are better

If your budgie does turn it's beak up at what ever you offer, don't take that to mean they will never eat it. Often once they try one thing, offer them something else and they will give it a go too. No, no age restrictions.

I've heard at a young age they may just pick at stuff, not actually swallowing it - but then later on they will learn to actually eat it. That seemed to fit with Puck, he'd just rip leafs up for quite a while but now seems to be eating
