I know all our friends in Australia are suffering from the extreme heat out there. I do hope that none of you have been affected by the awful fires that we have seen on the TV. Thinking of you all, keep safe.

Fires are such terrible things. I would rather face down a cyclone than a fire, any day. Every year one or more of the states seem to be affected by these terrible bushfires. And quite often they find out they have been deliberately lit. Arsonists are up there with looters in my opinion - the very worst dregs of humanity. Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. I am sure the people of Tasmania would appreciate your good vibes, if they only knew you were thinking of them.

I always worry about bush fires this time of year. We live semi-rural with a national park less than 1km down the road.

So now we have parts of Victoria, New South Wales, and southern Queensland under threat, and Tassie is still burning in places. Not good! I grew up with this threat over our heads every year. Thankfully where I am now has nowhere near the risk. Whereabouts are you, Rachel?

They do this, Mick. It is the strong winds that are part of the problem. The sparks/embers jump the fire-breaks. We were watching footage a day or two ago where the ash and embers were being blown horizontally. Take care, then, Rachel.

I think being in one of these firestorms would be the most terrifying thing ever.

I think being in one of these firestorms would be the most terrifying thing ever. Unimaginable. Last night on the news was the story of grandparents taking their 5 little grandchildren out into the water under their jetty, the fire even started to burn the jetty, thank god they were all safe in the end. Some parts got more 40 plus temperatures to come over the next couple of days they say
