How should I serve fruits and veggies to my budgies? They never eat it. Should I put the fruits and vegetables in a blender and then blend it, and then pour it into their food dish?? and also they never use their cuttlebone so can I scrape a little bit of cuttlebone into their food? PLEASE HELP.

Crazymuffin, I have moved your post to it's own thread. If you tack your question onto the end of an old thread, people are not likely to see it. Start your own thread, and/or read through the stickies at the top of each section. More often than not you will find the answers to your questions.

Corie....please can you tell me: - How many budgies does that lot feed?
- How frequently do you provide the feed?
I have just 6 budgies and give them apple, broccoli, carrot and chickweed when I can get it (not available in winter). Their favourite is usually broccoli. They get so enthusiastic for it they'll even perch on me to get at it! I have also tried to introduce a little cucumber, cauliflower and the occasional small piece of orange as well as cabbage leaf. I have had the birds for just over three months and have never given them hard boiled egg. Should I or is this used as a conditioner / when breeding & feeding young? Sorry to be a nuisance with my questions but text books are vague despite lots of reading and I'm a bit slow finding my way around the forum.

Hi Learner, no worry's That mix was for around 50 budgies, i provide daily. Egg is a source of protein so yeah try feeding it mixed with other vegies.

Hi Learner, I don't think cabbage is recommended for budgies. I don't know why, or even if that advice is correct, so I don't use it just in case. Same goes for asparagus and eggplant. Maybe someone else on here knows?
Chinese greens are great, however, like Pak Choy, Bok Choy, Choy Sum and those other variations.
Aside from being a super breeding food, hard boiled egg is good to use during the moult, for its protein replacement (feather-making uses up protein). If you're whizzing the egg up, you can also feed the crushed shell.

I have given broccoli to my two little herberts recently and they love it, how often can they have it?

I give mine veggies about every second day, Nina. Some people give every day. I have found if I give them each day they tend to leave it after a few days without a break. But try not to feed them just the broccoli; corn, leafy greens (not lettuce or spinach) carrots, snow peas seem to be every budgie's favourites, also apple slices, grapes etc

Why not spinach this is the staple to my softfood mix?

Spinach binds calcium and prevents it being available to the birds. A small amount is okay, but especially for your breeding hens, probably better to not make it a big part of their soft food diet.
It has been known to worsen gout and/or arthritis symptoms in humans as well, probably because of this quality to remove available calcium from the body.

I do not agree with this, they would have to eat a truck load before that occured. All top breeders use spanich. Take it you don't like spanich then Hezz.
