Hi everyone, just looking for advice on Skittles who is about 3 months old now and is a girl, not a boy ;D She has become my little buddy and wants to spend most of the day with me She also wants to feed me a couple of times a day. I don't mind but I read somewhere that if they do this to a toy etc it can cause crop infection? I do try to distract her but she is soo determined to preen and feed me. Thanks for your help

The problem with is comes from them regurgitating their seed, then re-eating it. I suppose if the seed was left for a while to pick up bacteria this is where the crop would potentially become infected. Her feeding you isn't going to cause a problem on it's own, and if you get rid of it before she gets back to it, you should be right.

Ah, Munchy does that to all his toys. Whenever I remove the current object of affection he just finds another one. He re-eats the seed but luckily he does it straight away and then I wash anything that he's done it on to get rid of any nasties.

Thanks Hezz and Ira. She always eat it immediately or I clean it so hopefully it doesn't cause a problem. She hasn't started feeding her toys yet, but I am sure she will very soon Thanks again

You're welcome. And I know we all worry about our budgies, but I've had Munchy for a year and he always seems interested in sticking his beak into the dirtiest corners he can find and we've not had a problem so far. As long as nothing is left gathering bacteria then I'm sure she will be fine
