If you hadn't made a note of the ring number and, by chance, discussed the budgie with the lady in the pet shop then the whereabouts of the lost bird would not be known. So... as most people, and you too I guess, seem to think the budgie (Chips) has literally had a lucky escape I'd leave it that way. After all if I had managed to escape from somewhere I'd not want to be I'd not be too pleased about being hauled back again especially if my new home was a great deal better. If in doubt.... say nowt!

Sad to report the lady who ha the bird in the cage in the shed got a dif budgie lil green and yellow smudged one but that one died a day or so after she got it prob cause it was in the shed an froze to death. I said with caution best not to get anymore but she was on the way to demand her money back or a replacement I did try and point out its not for the best or if she did at least bring the age indoors her response it depends if it's to noisy I will pick a quite one :-( Poor budgie Can u report this to anyone or because it has the basics the useless animal services will do nothing ?

Very sad liz, but I don't know what anyone else but you can do - report her! You and I know nothing will happen, but maybe, just maybe, it will prevent her from getting another! I am afraid it would mean YOU putting yourself on the line as informant. Otherwise what can you do?

I have check with near animal services but they say if the animal has shelter and food and water even though not the best there is nothing they can do they can't prove the other budgie died from the cold or neglect unless vet was involved. Also I explained the cage size they say if it was sold as a small bird or budgie cage they can do anything which a lot of these small cages are :-( I have informed the pet shop that she buys them from but they don't care. They keep there birds in twos she only took one so thats a bit pants on the pet shop front as they have a few single caged birds

The thought of a budgie living in a shed is unthinkable! poor wee thing! A happy ending though. If there's any chance she would try to get him back I'd keep stum. I agree with previous posts - if you keep a budgie in the shed you don't deserve one. Surely (preaching to the converted here I realise!) the pleasure of keeping budgie/s is to have them where you can interact with them and watch their crazy antics. I've got 3 in separate cages - the place is like a pet shop, but I wouldn't be without them. I fly them together every 2 days and love coming down in the morning to be greeted by them. She missed out..............

oh no, I missed this page when I did that last post - so she did get another. Dreadful. I have a couple of rescues myself and would have LOVED to have taken Smudge off her (dare I say forcibly!). Please please let her NOT get another.
