if anyone remembers, we got 5 year old bertie from an elderly lady. a budgie that has never been socialised or come out of his cage, anyway he's doing great, jumps on my hand, gives plenty of kisses, sings all day and yesterday came out of his cage albeit very nervously. he then took flight landed on the floor, where we thought he'd hurt himself, but he was ok. think he got a shock

oh he's doing well and we love him to bits, but when he landed on the floor, the poor little chap didn't know what to do. but he did let me pick him up but at the moment, dont think he's forgiven me.

This flying caper isn't quite as easy as it is made out to be! It's great that Bertie is settled and enjoying life.

Well done to you and Bertie! He now has a great life thanks to you, I'm sure he'll get the hang of the flying soon!

He will need to build up his muscles, Dallas. So encouraging him to come to you from a distance just more than a hop, encouraging his to flap will be a good start if he is really struggling. The more he tries, the more exercise he gets, the better his muscles will respond. He will get there - just try to provide a soft landing for him, so he don't hurt himself.
