I'm confused about whether to provide grit for my budgies. I had a little pot in the cage continuously for a while and I noticed they seemed to be going to it more frequently than usual. I read some stuff which made me think I should take it out - budgies don't need grit as they hull their seeds etc etc. It has been out for a couple of weeks and today I put it back in while the budgies were out of the cage. They have just gone back in and made straight for the grit pot as if they were desperate for some. Any advice please?

I give mine oystershell grit, or I did, that reminds me to put their dish back in lol. Oystershell is the best one, not that really gravelly stuff that pet shops sell.

If anyone decide to provide the grit to the budgies, it should be soluble oyster-shell grit only.
