I like this set-up and so do the boys! I realized that the appearance of their small cage is likely to become associated with unpleasant things like vet visits, so I need to keep it in use more as part of Berry and Woody's normal life. So today I have set up the treat foods in it (normal seed and water in big cage), and today they have been hopping in and out very happily. This is really good as only 48 hours ago Woody had an undignified experience - mite treatment - when he was in the small cage). Also think Berry is happier when he can nip in there on his own for a feed as he is hyper-sensitive to any signs that Woody (dominant bird) wants to muscle in on what he is eating.

Looks great, what is the large cage that you have, i often let them have free range of a couple of cages, give's them something different to do .

Hi skysmum - I now see you are having your own caging issues! I will interested to hear how it unfolds.
My big cage is a Ferplast Piano 6 which is good and they use the space well, but it is funny because they seem quite happy in the smaller one too. I wonder if a cage can be too big.
The conservatory plan is also a step towards encouraging Berry to spend time out of the cage even though he is not flying (at the moment - I hope, hope, hope he gets back to it). I want him to learn that he can have an interesting time climbing around, playing on gym on top of cage etc.
I love all the plants you have around yours. Can't wait for some natural light again so can have some near mine.

I am and its tough , i think im letting my human emotions take over but they are first and foremost my little family and i don't want to cause any distress through something i want to do, the reason i would like to breed Ted is to continue his line, he is such a lovely chap. Ive not long had the big black cage and its lovely but they only use the top bit and the doors are quite small, the advantage of it is it has a dividing panel which i can put down the middle which may come in handy IF i need a little nursery section at some point . I LOVE my plants, its a bit of a jungle out there, i can sit out there all year round and think im somewhere exotic , even the Bougainvillea is in flower at the moment .

From browsing the forum breeding budgies does sound very fraught! Just as well you can chill among the vegetation. I don't think I could stand the strain. Hope Inca and Ted get amorous very soon and the rest are cheering them on!

Hope Inca and Ted get amorous very soon and the rest are cheering them on! It can be but the last couple of times i bred i just had the pair and it went like a breeze with very little interference from me, i just provided them with the things they needed and they did the rest. It is such a beautiful thing to see. Its having the others which is confusing me this time round . Anyway we shall see .
