I haven't bought cucumber for years but I did recently as I had read about budgies liking it.
Well, there is now a chunk in their cage but I have just had my 3rd cucumber sandwich!!!
Yum yum and quite a healthy tea - except for thick slatherings of butter...

Mine won't eat cucumber, or even fruit but give them peas, carrots, spinach and sweet corn the go mad over it.
I've tried mango, kiwi, grapes and apples, they look but don't munch it.

Andy Mac, how do you give them peas? I find anything that is not quite big and firmly anchored is immediately on the floor.
I have been growing carrot tops for mine and I have to wedge them in a cup or else they'd be lobbed too. They really like nibbling on those tho.

I slightly cock the peas and carrots, about 2-3mins then drop into cold water, drain and then a slight mash with a fork. They pick the peas and sweet corn and leave the outer shell but always fussy about the carrot.

Can you get peas in their pod, birdgurl? Mine have always loved snow peas - mostly the pea itself but also their do have quite a good nibble on the pod too.
Cucumber and zucchini, they will taste, but not really have a feed of.

I would have thought cucumber would be too watery for them, however seems like these birds eat most things. In fact, my OH reckons the buds get fed better than he does

I think cucumber and zucc are a bit watery too, Sam. Maybe the birds pick up my vibe.

There would have to be plenty of other things on that sarnie, Shirls. The cucumber is fine, just not on it's own. Definitely a case of "feed the man meat!" I would feel I was visiting HRH (no, not Inca, this time), if I were sitting down to cucumber sandwiches.
