Are there any birds that can safely and hipily live with budgies in an aviary? I have 2 cockatiels in with mine that seem happy but was wondering if there is anything else, I keep seeing people selling diamond doves with budgies.

I used to have a couple of beautiful Diamond doves starlingqueen and tried introducing them into the Aviary with my buds. Diamond doves are very placid and the budgies worried them often going for them so i had no choice but to remove them. I think in very large Aviarys you would get away with it but not in a smaller one. As a general rule of thumb its other hook bills although i know a lot of people keep other smaller type finches which are very quick and can get out of the way but only in large Aviarys. Have you thought about Love Birds, although i dont know about this, someone else can maybe able to help, i know BB keeps lovebirds but i think they are separate.

I have heard that lovebirds can be very aggressive and do really awful things to budgies.

I've heard of people keeping canaries with them but know that's not a good idea.

Lovebirds and celestial parakeets are not recommended to keep with budgies at all as they are very territorial and can bite off a toe or even a leg! As its an aviary bourkes are ok to keep with budgies. They are lovely quiet natured birds and I have 2 in my budgie aviary with no problems, although the bourkes were not comfortable living with budgies when I tried them in a more confined flight space. Budgies are likely to be aggressive to canaries and finches, but I have known people to mix them. Personaly I wouldn't as I wouldn't like to think of the smaller birds always feeling under threat

nat, that's what worries me, the birds feeling constantly on edge, not just the other birds but the budgies as well. Maybe I'll just stick with the budgies, leaves more room for them.

They sure can be little buggers lol! Mine are really nasty to visitors and scream the house down for an hour when anyoone comes round. Nutnut will attack peoples faces too! Just not mine lol ;-)
Lol Hezz, it doesn't fit. I don't put it up much. Maybe once a fortnight to go out in the evening and then I have to give it a good soaking to flatten it before work in the morning :-)

Max is just the same with visitors, he screams the whole time they are here. We had a conservatory salesman round the other day and he couldn't hear a word we were saying. My African grey does Maxs scream only louder, it gets quite noisy here sometimes. Max will scream and then shout "Shut up" at himself.
