how old is the chick!!! It maybe best to remove the hen to another cage and leave the chick and dad together!

hi the baby is about 6 weeks old ,i have them in a heated breeding shed ,my problem is i have an outdoor aviery with 1 small breeding box and 1 female is siting on eggs in there and if i put the female in there she may try and get in the breeding box she can be aggressive to other females ?

hi thats what i thought really but havent seen her feeding herself yet but being in a breeding shed i dont see them all the time i check on them 3 times a day ,also i dont colony breed as i have a breeding cage in a heated shed i do it in there i usually use the couples who show signs of wanting to breed feed them well and see what happens ,but i have a very young male and an older male with his female partner than an older female who untill now lays unfertile eggs ive tried her with a few partners so i was not worried about the breeding box untill i saw her and the older male mating now we have 5 eggs and the first 3 are fertile : ) so i need to keep this female in the breeding shed untill they have left the box do you think the baby will suvive in the outdoor aviery as its quite cold now and shes used to being kept warm ,

I agree with Gaile that the chick should be fine on it's own.

baby needs to be a little older before he goes into the flight! maybe another 2weeks. put a young male in the cage with the baby, he will learn from the older budgie!
