What should I wash my birdcage out with? Should I use hot soapy water once a week to do the tray? What about the food and water bowls? I was thinking to just rinse them out when I refill them and wash them out with soapy water once a week? Is this ok?

Ideally, the water bowl should be washed thoroughly every day.

I have two of each water and food bowl (more actually). Each day I just replace them with a new one, and put the dirty ones in the dishwasher. It's more the water bowl that needs a regular wash. It gets bits of food from their beak in there, sometimes the occasional poop. Even after just a day or two, the sides of the container can feel a bit slimy in hot weather.
Budgies and dirty water are not a good mix.

Ok thanks, I only have one pot of each at the moment so will just have to wash em dry em an put em back. Do I just use standard washing up liquid and a sponge yeh? I'm tempted to let them out later as they don't look best pleased cooped up in that cage. I don't think it's big enough for 2 birds tho bug they guy in the shop said it was. I am looking into getting a bigger one soon.
