As you may have noticed I am on a bit of a toy making rampage Hob was never really that interested in toys, give him a mirror and he is a happy boy, but Millie is so different and into everything. Wanting to chew and examine everything. Like a true toddler! I know many of you here buy parts from Yvonne at pine4parrots and i got a toy and some bits and bobs yesterday. She suggested I get a CHUBE and I found them at Pet supermarket, no postage and a very reasonable price www.pet-supermarket.co.uk/Products/CN209003/underworld-critters-choice-chube in the UK. Obviously will remove the bedding. Just thought I would share as Yvonne highly recommends these and when I did a forum search I couldn't find anything about them (although I could have missed it so firgive me if I am double posting.) This is what Yvonne says www.pine4parrots.co.uk/Pages/Chube.aspx

The only thing to watch out for is that it doesn't make Millie want to lay an egg. If she thinks it's a nest, she might feel like popping one out.

I have ordered already, shall put it up and see what she makes of it, if nesting and egg laying seems probably I shall promtly remove

Mine love chubes too. but I did have a hen that did exactly as Stace said and tried to turn it into a nestbox lol!
Then I got one of those chubes covered in hay for rabbits (from pets@home) and made a couple of holes in it and hung it at a slight angle from the ceiling with undyed leather straps (also from Yvonne at Pine4parrots) so nobody could actually sit inside it. They loved pulling all the hay off it and shreading the chube afterwards, but any ideas of making a nest were scuppered by the angle it was hung at ;-):-D

Haven't seen the chubes covered in hay. Oh .... so many wonderful things to buy.

I'm collecting my first budgie Kenny on 1st feb and have been looking at pine4parrots and saw the chube and am very interested is a small bug enough for a budgie? What size do you recommend x

I bought my chube/tube from my local Pets at home as Yvonne doesn't actually stock them (or didn't at the time I was buying at least) www.petsathome.com/shop/small-card-tube-by-pets-at-home-115445 I got the small one. It did take them a few weeks to explore the first one, but since then I have bought two replacements and they chew through them in no time. A favourite activity! I am about to go and buy another actually as the current one is pretty much wrecked. Will see if I can post a picture for you tomorrow when it is light. Enjoy having Kenny and bear in mind it will probably take him a few days if not a few weeks to get properly comfortable in his new home, so do not be discouraged if he doesn't play with his toys at first. Mine were quite wary of the tube to start with.

Yeah she doesn't sell them and I've just looked at petsathome and planned to just get one from there just wasn't sure if the small was the right size did u buy nuts and bolts from P4P or have you attached it some other way? I'm really excited for Kenny coming home and hope he settles quickly I've gone a bit crazy with toys etc but only put one in cage for now will rotate them once he starts to notice them don't want to over crowd cage with toys thanks for the sizing x
