The feeder bowls for the Hagen Vision cage are right at the bottom of the cage. Even before we got Millie, Hob was never too keen to go down to the bottom and Millie has just point blank refused. I have other feeders that are on the outside of the cage, but when we go away on holiday and they stay with someone they will need their feeder inside ... so I got Matthew to cut me a feeder shaped hole into a piece of untreated pine and it works a TREAT! I was obviously inspired by the feeder platforms from Natural bird company, but instead of using stainless steel cups thought I would try and use our existing plastic feeder. Thought I would share as a nice solution for this cage if you have someone who is handy with a jigsaw that can make this.

We are going to France for two weeks at the beginning of the school holidays. It actually has been a bit of a concern to me as all of my friends who will be happy to look after buds are going away at the same time. They all have children too. I am now scouring around further to see who could look after them (in the way I would like them to be looked after). Been giving me sleepless nights to be honest.

I don't know where you're sailing from but if we're on the way, I could take them if you like? You should send the picture of that feeder Matthew made to Hagen, they could learn something useful from that!

Well done Matthew, and Lousette. That is a grand idea.

Good work, the Hubster!
Hope you can find somewhere for the buds to stay. If you could swing past Sarah's on your way to the coast, that would be ideal.

Oh Sarah that would have been wonderful, thank you for the kind offer, but we are travelling in the opposite direction taking the Eurotunnel. We go to France every year to a little place in the alps (a friend has an apartment that we stay in), so we drive down there. If it wasn't a 10 hour car journey I would have taken the birdies with us, but that is just TOO long for them to be in the car.
Normally wouldn't be a problem as I have several friends who I have pet sat for before and they would be happy to help, but by some mysterious force of nature everyone is going away at the same time. I am sure I will find someone ... eventually.

Oh of course, the Eurotunnel! Must be practically on your doorstep! Hope you find someone to help

I would offer but I don't have a room to keep them in away from my birds. For all our birds sakes I think it would be best not to let them mix or even share a room. My lounge/diner has birds as does my utility room. The conservatory gets too warm and the kids wont allow any birds in their rooms and neither will hubby. I hope you find someone soon.

This is actually an old thread from last year so we don't need bird sitting any more I had pointed members to this thread to show a solution to the Hagen feeders and that is how it has gotten resurrected.

Oh, I feel silly now. The feeder is a great idea though.

Brilliant. The platform, too, provides a nice break for the feet.
