i have a hen who has just lost her male and she has 4 chicks and still has 3 eggs to hatch, should i buy some formula to help and hand feed them or let her do it on her own, she is an experienced hen, this is her 4/5 clutch?

She may be able to do it herself if you can't foster out, but will probably need help in topping up some of the chicks or you might lose some. If you are adept at handfeeding then I would definately have some formula on the ready. If she tries to feed them all she may end up depleted herself after the round and more prone to sickness and still lose chicks anyway. Ideally I'd have an incubator set up that you can pop the older ones in so you can feed them and give her a chance to feed the younger ones.
