Hello I am Marianne, welcome to Novembers' Budgerigar Of The Month Contest!
This months contest is a long one!
No entries will be accepted after midnight on the 9th December. This is to allow time for polls to be run so that you, the members, can vote for your favourite photographs. The winner will be announced on Monday 12th December.
As the contest will be judged by all forum members by a vote, everyone can enter, staff and admin included.
Now for the RULES:
*Entries must be PM'd to me or emailed to: budgerigarsforum@gmail.com
*This month we are allowing TWO entries per member! This is because we are taking a break from comps in December as everyone will be busy with Christmas preparations.
*If a member gets two photos through to the final poll then they must choose which one they want to enter, to make it fair to everyone.
*Photographs entered must be of budgerigars and be of good quality, which means no unfocused, blurry, or grainy shots. Other species of birds may be allowed in the photo as long as the budgerigar is the main focus.
*Each month there will be a theme so any entry that the contest organiser does not feel matches the theme will not be accepted. If, for any reason, you disagree with the organisers decision then another member will be brought in to give a second opinion although I doubt that will ever be needed
*Your entry must not have any enhancements such as sparkly emoticons or text, although cropping within reason will be allowed.
*The winner of this months contest will get to choose the theme for next month ( in this case it will be for January’s' contest as we will be taking a break in December for the busy Christmas period).
*If a non-uk member wins the contest then arrangements will have to be arranged. Maybe the member could pay postage costs or the prize could be auctioned off and the money used to buy a voucher at an online shop in the winning members country. We will come to a decision on that if/ when it happens.
*This month we are sponsored by the fantastic www.chinchillas2shop.co.uk/
Chinchillas2shop make not seem a likely sponsor for a budgerigar contest just by looking at the name but they sell an amazing array of toy making goodies for our feathered friends. Everything from mini coloured munch balls to razzas to organic apple sticks.
Both Rachael and I have bought from Chinchillas2shop before to make things for our budgies, they have an excellent selection of natural goods and plenty of great chewing opportunities for hens!
We asked Linda from chinchillas2shop for a bit of information about their site;
“We started off with the rescue/ rehoming centre 11 years ago at www.chinchillas2home.co.uk and at that time things were small and ALL profit went to the rescue, but it did take quite a lot of my time up, and I needed help as it grew so it was either giving it up or giving up my own job to make www.chinchillas2shop.co.uk (which was established 8 + years ago) my full-time job- I chose the latter obviously! I decided to run the shop full time with just a percentage going to different rescues (we have to eat too!) The rescues that we feel deserved help get gifts of food/ toy hampers. Other verified rescues receive a large discount if they buy from us- and chinchillas2shop have monies to help the rehoming – with Carolyn (manager) planning on moving to a place where there is more room for the rescues.”
Linda at www.chinchillas2shop.co.uk has offered a great prize for this months winner which is:
A Secret Furby Bag:
Items in bag are a Furbie, 1ft palm roll, palm ball, bamboo ball, 2 palm flowers, 2 coloured vine stars, 2 natural twists, one 3"coloured ball, vine heart, 2 brown vine wreaths, 2 mini natural vine wreaths, 2 coloured vine wreaths, loofah slice, bag of peas and 2 coloured twists.
