Good news for you and Pickles. If you can get some of his seed growing in a similar fashion this will give him more variety, and even better still if you can get it to go to seed. Seeding grasses are about half my buds diet, and for part of the day that is all they have access to. Well done, Pickles! Have you tried him with basil, Helen? I am not sure there is a budgie who eats greens that doesn't take to basil. The photo made me think of a family joke, the caption to this would have been "do I have to eat all of this, Mum???"

Oh I am going to plant some of his seed today to try, no not tried basil yet but will do, he would try and eat it all if I left it there, he demolishes it within minutes, I have to cut the ends off cause they all dry up after hes chewed them

How about strategically placing a couple of basil leaves within the grass? He might just eat them by accident? Well done Pickle, you are such a handsome chap I just so love his colour. I am so glad you called him Pickle too rather than gherkin

You are a crafty one Samwiseg, it may work though. It depends who's the craftiest between you and Pickle.

I can just imagine the mess! No, just cut some off and let him graze on these .......... in fact I would do the same with the pot of grass - cut some off and give him these pieces rather than open slather on the whole pot!
