Such a lovely story. And I am sure they sense they have been rescued and however scared initially, know they are being looked after, that then turns into a great bond

Oh that is such a lovely picture on the heated perch, what a transformation from the little bird you saved. Does she look spoilt now or what??? You have done a brilliant job giving her a lovely warm home with lots of food and love. (Lucky Goldie) Well done you!

Hi Goldie, What a great story! We too are still very new budgie owners. We've had our two for nearly a year now. The female (maggie is quite happy to get on the finger) but the male, Lenny, nearly a year on, still won't have any of it, unless accompanied by millet. I think it helps that he has seen Maggie come out on the finger and realises that's the only way he will get out of the cage! We started with a wooden perch and progressed using millet like yourself. I guess moral of my story is persevere - we're nearly a year on and still Lenny is a stubborn lad! Good luck and please continue to post your pics and videos - they make me smile Emma

Good luck and please continue to post your pics and videos - they make me smile Emma I appreciate your story too and am thinking about adding another bird (one whom I would know from a much earlier chapter). Goldie has been "freeing" her from her cage, as I simply open the gate and let her find her couple of hours of freedom. I just couldn't keep her hostage any longer, pending an almost pointless regimen of trying to get her on the finger. She recoils at the sight of an extended finger, sans food context. Still - she's come a longer way than I might have thought, and the lamp episode was sweet. Thanks!
