Anyone else dreaming of a stainless steel cage for budgies? I was searching for the perfect cage and came across "Coco's flock" a blog. I thought my dream was suddenly within reach. As it turns out the company that made his cages (which are stunning) are not taking orders for budgie cages right now. I guess the one half inch spacing is too hard to do or something. cocosflock.wordpress.com/page/3/This guys setup looks really cool some of the cages were apparently made by "expandable habitats", those are the cages I am hoping to eventually replace mine with. I'm in Canada so I have to purchase either here or in the States. Do you know of any other companies making stainless steel cages?

Wow he is super expensive! $2775 for a small cage which would suit a couple of budgies.

I've seen these Expandable Habitats cages before. They are the Rolls Royce of cages, and cost as much as well.
They've got everything and can be customised to suit. I think they make many of them to order. They've got things like raised perspex tops for easy-clean play areas but so that you can still hang things. A paper roll attachment inside so you can just roll out and tear off to line the bottom of the cage. Big and small access doors. Horizontal wires. Properly finished edges. All the things that we complain about in off-the-shelf cages.
People with large birds often buy them, as they last a lifetime and stand up to vigorous chewing with no fear of rust. I know some people in Australia have bought them and had them shipped out from the US, so they have a very good reputation.
In the States, A&E and Kings Cages also sell stainless steel cages. They are also expensive. I'm not sure about Canada.
A lot of the stainless ones are designed for larger birds, so the wire spacing is too big.

The A&E seems to have 5/8 th inch spacing and also I purchased four cages and three arrived very damaged because of packaging. I have been looking at it on wayfair but besides the spacing problem, the only review of the product says the doors and stuff are all crooked.

That cage is beautiful! At first I thought that the Hagen Vision cages were expandable because of their modular construction. I thought - oh great I can just by a new base when I want to expand. But, no. I emailed them about it and just a got a standard 'sorrio - no can do' email. They obviously want people to buy the whole thing. The top panel of my friend's one got broken in transit and he tried to get a replacement part but again, no.

I was considering trying this cage Stainless steel even though the spacing is wrong. I am home all the time so I would watch them closely to see if they try to escape. It's hard for the cages to make the trip from the States to Canada and the packaging is flimsy. Even though I told this company (4 times)the packaging means my cages get damaged they still send them without reinforcing the package. I have bars that are unwelded or crooked. Even when they sent a replacement cage it was damaged and I could not build a perfect cage with two cages. Then I read what a buyer wrote about the stainless steel cage. Expandable habitats told me to call them in January, they might make cages for budgies then. "1.0 Rip off! Steer clear! Doretta Michaelson from Northford, CT– Verified Buyer This.cage is horrible! Instructions for assembly very bad & parts missing! Tolerances in manufacturing are terrible! Doors & other areas do not line up correctly! If If I had time to return it before bringing our new Congo Grey home, I would have! Do not buy A&E!" This is the sole evaluation made by a buyer, it's a bit scary, if you scroll down the page of wayfair you will see it.
