A bit of a long shot, from New Zealand - I have 12 budgie babies and 3 quails ready for a new home. There is a variety in colours (blues, greys, with or without yellow), some are dilutes, and some are spangles. Anyone interested or knows someone who may be? Ask if you are interested in more up to date pictures!

Good luck with it, Marleen. Maybe there is a NZ lurker out there who would love a budgie or two.

I can only try! I have put this on face book too, as I am more likely to get a response there. I will have to reduce the number of birds though, since there is only one shop in South Auckland left that takes them. Thankfully the aviaries are large enough to keep them until the off season, but still. OH has suggested to reduce the number of eggs per breeding couple, which I could consider too.

That is something I have considered already if I did want to do a breeding season. Just talking tonight about this very thing, and I know I would be hopeless selling off the babies so the solution to that is not raising as many chicks. I presume you have a gumtree site? That looks like the way to go from what I am seeing here.

I wish i lived in NZ right now, they are beauties Marleen, good luck with it. I have said the same, if i breed again i will make sure, as hard as it is, that i will keep the clutch small. I was lucky with my last two, i had 2 the first time an three the second, it was just right .

Oh, Marleen, they are beautiful!!! There is one there in particular, one of the spangles, yellow face, I would dearly love to take home, sigh! All the best finding good new homes for them all. I so wish you weren't across the ditch!

Thank you guys! Hezz and I are after the same bird it seems.... thankfully she's across the ditch! I would sell the bird quick as a flash though, as I will have to reduce the flock.

I'm so glad you sold them to a good home and not a shop. I would have loved to have viewed your photos. Trademe has taken them down now, so I am never going to know what the budgie in photo 15 looks like but I'm sure he was a prize.
