Lovely cage set up! Especially like the variety of perches/woods you got there Thank you very much samwiseg :-) I am very happy, that you like my cage setup! I like it too, very much. The cage came with two of the standard wood perches, but I exchanged one of them with two different wood perches These look much nicer!

Sleepy and lazy looking budgies in a pet shop, is always not a good sign. Hi BudgiesBuddy, oh okay! Well it could very well be, that I just went there to the wrong time and they were really asleep. That's the reason why I want to go there a few times at different hours, to see if something changes in their activity! Because right now it looks very difficult to find a breeder. None of the breeders in my area in CA responded to my mail. Therefore I need to get my budgie from a pet store. Just need to find the right one!

What about calling a few local vets, they might also know of some needing homes or some breeders

What about calling a few local vets, they might also know of some needing homes or some breeders Hmm that could be a good idea. I looked on Google for avian doctors in my area and found one, who is really near to our home. Maybe I call them and ask if they know budgie breeders. Because I can't believe that there are no breeders in my area. I looked online, but most people sell older budgies or breeding pairs. I would like to have a baby budgie. Just like my mother when she got our little blue Ricky. He was very young and I think younger budgies are easier to tame etc. right?

It doesn't have to be an avian vet, as they seem to be few and far. Any vet may well know about non professional/professional breeders

Go for the most active budgie there. Best of luck
