I use the perches but not as nighttime roosting ones. I put them lower down in the cage.
I put newspaper on top of the grates.

I have the same model as you Skysmum. I use the plastic perches, one at a time. They are easy to rearrange, stick on the outside and easy to clean. I wash mine in FS10. I always have one clean and ready to swap out a used one. I use the bottom grid for the very reason you said. A lot of the feathers fall to the bottom and stay there even when Joey has a flapping session. I don't use the feed pots now, although I did when I got the cage and Joey used then without any bother. A lot of people don't like the idea of the birds feet going through the bars, I have never had any bother with that. Even when Joey used the feed pots at the bottom there was no bother. When it's cleaning time I just unclip the top of the cage and get the vacuum to the bottom and the grid, the go round with a cloth well sprayed with FS10, job done in 10 minutes. What I did have to do was put some blue tack under the grid under where the seed pots were. Joey used to make a hell of a racket when he jumped down onto the grid. It fair made me jump I can tell you. No doubt others will have their opinions, and all are quite valid. In the end it will be your choice. You will enjoy the cage and so will the buds.

I don't use the plastic perches. I do use the grating in the bottom but put newspaper on top. If you fold it so it sits up against the food bowls all the feathers go underneath so when the flap not too much comes out. Also if you don't use the grating the buds will have a long drop down to the food.

Oh I don't use the seed pots.
I use clear glass ashtrays(unused, bought especially for this purpose) as their seedpots, on top of the cage.
Easy to wash and easy to put a thin layer of seed into at a time.

Ahhh i didn't think of that with the food dishes, not sure mine will adjust to those being so far down though, we will try and see. Thankyou.

I thought plastic perches were bad for their feet When I bought my first cage and then later the piano 6 cage. I replaced all the plastic perches with the natural wood ones and the bendy rope ones and I replaced the plastic swings because I had read up on plastic being bad for them .

It is Julie but if you place them where they don't usually roost or use much its ok. Mine are all wood or natural tree branches but i may use these very low down as hop on's to get back up.

I do use the wire with newspaper underneath on the white base. Mine hardly ever go down there though as I made a feeding platform for them that the green bowl fits into. Works like a charm. I posted a pic of that quite a while back. Will see if I can find the thread for you tomorrow when I am not on my mobile.
