Hi, I am new to the budgerigar forum, I just joined the other day, and this is my first post, I don't know my way around it yet, but I hope someone is able to read this and help answer a question for me. I have a Hagen Vision 2 Large cage, and I am hoping to buy 3 baby budgies at the end of February, will the cage be big enough for 3 birds, the cage doors will be open 90% of the time for them to go in and out as they please, but I don't want the cage to feel cramped for the wee guys if at any time they have to be shut in.

Hi jellybean and welcome to the forum! I don't have the Hagen Vision 2 myself but have had a look online to see the dimensions. It does show in the marketing video on Zooplus that it has two budgies in there. In my humble opinion you would just be able to fit three birds in with suitable room for them, perches and toys. Having said that, if you are going to let your birds out all day every day then all the better and think this cage would not be a problem. Just as long as they have enough fly around room to have a mad flap (as I like to call them!) without knocking everything flying (including the other birds) then its all ok! But please see if other members are able to give you any further info that I may have missed

Hi and welcome to the forum. I have the vision large cage and have two in it at the moment but would say it would take four comfortably. Mine are out a fair bit too. It's a great cage and there are a couple of threads about them on here.

Somehow I just posted and it didn't show up. So at the risk of it showing up and posting twice I will rewrite my idea. With my birds it wasn't the size of the cage but the temperament of the birds. No matter the size of the cage Noah chased males down and tried to rip their feet off when he caught them. I was intending to film the progress of my bird Loki. I noticed after that even in a big room Noah (white and blue) is still chasing down Sunny. s1055.photobucket.com/user/bbbirdie/media/Free164_zpse465d4c0.mp4.htmlYou see them on the top of the window at first then they keep flying by Noah in pursuit of Sunny. Boys will be boys. The three boys could not be left together in this cage, after only a few days of getting use to my home.

I will always advocate for the largest cage that your pocket and the room can handle. A cage can well be too small; it can never be too big.
