While I was "away" on the other side of the pond.....Hilda....our button quail past away....so now it is only Henry whom we found out after Hilda's death is really Henrietta....as she started to lay eggs..... ....she has been on her own for almost a year now and we are wanted to find her a "playmate".....so if anyone can offer us any advice on where we might find a breeder of button quail that would be great.....

Good luck there, Kath. I hope you find a friend for Henrietta soon.

I keep button quail. If you want some I can hatch a batch of eggs for you. I'm in the Derby area so might not be too far away? Send me a PM if you're interested

Yes, that's the ones I have. They are known as button quail around here. I keep a little flock of 5 birds in the bottom of my aviary and I also have 2 other pairs in separate cages. We eat the eggs and they help tidy up all the seed that the budgies flick everywhere. They are also funny little characters in their own right! I have a little incubator and a heat pad & raising the chicks is fun as they are tiny little fluffy things who "peep" constantly - the kids love them!

hannibal, Kath hasn't been on again since she put up that post, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. They are quite cute little things I think, although in real life they are only about the size of the photo, aren't they, or not even? I have seen some but not sure which type.

No probs. Yes, they are little bigger than the budgies. Their calls when they can't find each other are really quite commical. You need quite a lot of eggs to make an omlette though!!!!
