have you tried washing his feet? He looks like a young bird and the "growths" could just be poo from the nest, caked onto his feet.

Soak the claws in warm water and remove with your nails.

I was going to say - that's simply poop that hasn't been cleaned off properly. Hopefully the claws underneath will not be deformed because of it.

I have had chicks look like that when I was unable to clean the nest box for over 48 hours. When I tried to clean it, it won't come off. Until I soaked the feet in warm water for nearly two minutes and peeled with my nails. I was terrified too for the first time that I would hurt him But these are some of things which we have to do.

Mango had one of these "growths" when I picked her up too. I thought it was a warped toe ....... until I put my reading glasses on and had a good look.
