I hope she is wrong too. It can apparently lie dormant, sometimes never surface. And some birds can be carriers and never develop symptoms. It's normally activated under stress or change of environment, or if another illness occurs it can trigger it. I'm not 100% on it all but it's an airborne thing. It's not the same thing as the human version. It's not an STD in birds, and if it's passed onto humans it's known as Pssitacosis. I hope it isn't that. Please let it just be a simple treatable infection.

Just wait and see what the tests reveal. I've had my vet concerned at the possibility of psittacosis when my bird was really sick, and it turned out negative. It was major infections sending everything haywire. The vet needs to rule it out.

This sounds very like what happened with Woody. The others tested negative, and he went on to have doxycycline injections (6 weekly) and hepatosyl for the liver disease. He is fine now. Don't give up hope. Keep up us posted.

Update - they couldn't do a blood test yesterday as he was too badly bruised on his neck from the first one. They seem to have changed opinion that it's psittacosis but still want to test for it incase. The vet was happy for me to take him home over the weekend with 4 different kinds of medicines or his liver and infection. He would have been left by himself until Monday otherwise, with only 2 visits from a vet who would pop in to give medicine. I didn't want him lonely and by himself. He has only eaten minuscule amounts. Has anyone any suggestions on trying to get him to eat more? Today he's so far eaten 3 bits of sweetcorn, a bit of millet and picket out the oaty looking seeds from the Trill. He's been up since 8am. He seems to be wanting reassurance more from the flock, especially Paddy. He's been stuck to him like glue. He's definitely energetic. He doesn't seem ill. His poops were a wee but more solid during the night, still green.

Leave off the veggies until he is back to good health, give him a sprig of millet to forage on at all times, and if he is getting into the oats, leave heaps in his seed pot for him. Millet is easy for them to eat when they are sick - they don't have to work so hard at it. Poor little Apple. Get better little man.
